TOWMATE Rhino & TA-NO BOB · plant trailers 2700–3500 kg

A trailer for your mini excavator: loaded in 2 minutes, every day

The TOWMATE Rhino is built for groundworkers, landscapers and hire companies that move a machine of up to 3.5 tonnes every day. Hot-dip galvanised, VCA type approved and modular, so every part can be replaced on its own. Prefer a light trailer with folding ramps? That is the TA-NO BOB. Enter your machine weight and see straight away which version fits.

Not enough payload

A 3-tonne machine with bucket and tiltrotator quickly weighs 3200 kg. On a trailer with 2500 kg payload you are on the road illegally and without cover. Work with the operating weight, not the brochure figure.

Loading goes wrong on wet ground

Rubber tracks slip on steep ramps. The Rhino has 1400 mm ramps (individual or full width) and the Beavertail a loading height of 300 mm: the flattest angle in this class.

Rust and downtime

A painted chassis is finished after three winters. The Rhino is hot-dip galvanised and modular: mudguard, light bar or drawbar are replaced separately, no welding.

Which version fits your machine?

Enter the operating weight (machine + bucket + attachments). The tool only shows versions with enough payload.

Quick pick:

Can your vehicle tow it?

Dutch plate: we look up the maximum towing weight at the RDW and show matching trailers. Belgian or other plate: enter the towing weight (O.1) from your registration certificate.

Why groundworkers choose Rhino and BOB

Built for construction and hire

TOWMATE supplies UK hire companies and utilities, where a trailer is loaded hundreds of times a year. That is the standard the Rhino is designed to.

Even the Standard is well equipped

LED lights, up to 8 lashing points rated 2.5 t, bucket rest and a choice of 50 mm coupling head or 40 mm eye at no extra cost; the 3000/3500 kg versions get a 48 mm serrated jockey wheel.

Pro with pivot axles

The Pro version with pivot axles (PA) keeps all wheels on the ground when loading and spreads the weight better across the axles. Less overload, less maintenance.

TA-NO BOB: light and complete

2700 kg tandem (option 3000 or 3500 kg) with 1.5 m folding steel ramps that double as stabiliser legs, bucket bracket and mudguards with anti-slip walkway. Unladen weight from 635 kg.

Frequently asked questions

Which trailer do I need for a 1.8-tonne mini excavator?

Use the operating weight: machine plus bucket, quick coupler and any breaker, usually 1900–2100 kg. Any 2700 kg Rhino (payload 2020–2170 kg) fits; choose 3000 or 3500 kg if you also carry soil, slabs or a plate compactor.

Will a 3-tonne mini excavator go on a 3500 kg trailer?

Only if its operating weight stays under the payload: the 3500 kg Rhino carries 2655 to 2870 kg depending on version. Machines in the 2.5–2.8 t class fit; a true 3-tonner with bucket usually weighs 2900–3300 kg and does not fit within 3500 kg gross weight. Check the machine's plate and enter the exact weight in the tool; if it does not fit, REMORQ will advise a heavier class.

Which driving licence do I need?

A Rhino has a gross weight of 2700 to 3500 kg. Behind a van or pick-up the combination exceeds 3500 kg, so in the Netherlands and Belgium you need a BE licence (or B with code 96 if the combination stays under 4250 kg). Use the towing check to see what your vehicle may tow.

Can my pick-up tow it?

Dutch plate: enter it in the towing check and we fetch the maximum braked towing weight from the RDW. Belgian plate: see O.1 on your registration certificate. The towing weight must be at least the trailer's gross weight.

What is the difference between Standard and Pro?

Standard is the base: galvanised, LED, 8 lashing points, bucket rest. Pro is the extended version with premium upgrades, also available as 3000 kg and with pivot axles (PA), which keep all wheels on the ground when loading and spread axle loads. For daily use and hire, Pro is the better choice.

Rhino or BOB?

The Rhino is the trailer for daily heavy use: hot-dip galvanised, modular, with pivot axles and beavertail as options. The TA-NO BOB is the compact tandem with folding ramps that are always on board and double as stabiliser legs; 2700 kg as standard, 3000 or 3500 kg as an option. If loading on a tight site and a low unladen weight matter more than a galvanised chassis, choose the BOB.

What is a beavertail?

A bed that slopes down at the rear, reducing the loading angle. The Rhino Beavertail therefore has a loading height of 300 mm instead of 380 mm. Ideal for machines with little ground clearance and for loading on soft ground.

Does the trailer need its own registration?

In the Netherlands and Belgium a trailer over 750 kg needs its own registration plate and inspection. Your REMORQ dealer knows the procedure in your country and covers it in the quote.

What is the lead time?

The current lead time per brand is shown on every model page and kept up to date by REMORQ. Models in stock are marked; your dealer confirms the delivery date in the quote.

More about TOWMATE

TOWMATE Trailers is a British family business from Colchester, Essex, in the trailer industry since 1995 but manufacturing only since 2017. That late start says it all: through its parts division AlphaParts (26+ years) it first knew the market from the inside. They know what breaks, how it breaks and how to prevent it.
